Refreshing Your Car: The Big 5
Giving your car a nice cleaning is about more than keeping it looking good. It also keeps your car running the way it should. Here are five big ways you can give your car a nice spring refresh.
Check Your Tires: Winter cold and certain outside elements, such as road salt, can do a number on your wheels. For example, element-related dry rot could be eating at your tires, and you might not even know it! Give your tires a good checkup before you take them any further. It may be time to rotate them, or change them completely.
Clean the Insides of Your Windows: Your windows can be as bright and shiny as possible on the outside. If they're dirty on the inside, you're not going to have the best view of the road. This could cause serious issues. Use a proper non-abrasive cleaner to give your windows plenty of sheen, and yourself a clear view.
Keep a Maintenance Schedule: Your engine has filters that keep the oil and fuel running through them clean and debris-free. That doesn't mean gunk won't build up over time. Dirty oil, or a lack of oil, can irreparably damage your engine. Same with brake fluid or transmission fluid. Keep your car running the way it should by scheduling a maintenance service ASAP.
Inspect Your Wiper Blades: Worn wiper blades can be more harmful to your windshield than no wiper blades at all! Over time, loose or exposed blades can scratch or mar the glass. Keep your windshield water-free - and streak-free - by replacing your wiper blades as needed.
Let's Go to the Car Wash: You wouldn't believe the wonders that a good wash, wax, and vacuum can do for your vehicle. A trip to the car wash is a necessity for kicking off spring cleaning season for your car. Take a ride to your closest one today!
This House is Clean
Spring cleaning is a perfect way to get your house in order. Here are a few ways you can give your house a thorough cleaning as the season of renewal begins.
Bust That Dust: It doesn't take much for dust bunnies to cling to the furthest corners of your home. Don't let them make a permanent home. Take the duster of your choice and send them packing. You'll be amazed at how much of a difference a simple dusting can make.
Time to Reorganize: Canned food taking up space in your pantry? Donate it to your local food bank. Got clothes in your closet you don't wear anymore? Sell 'em or give 'em away. Reorganizing what you want to keep and getting rid of what you don't can give your home a greater sense of space and openness.
Unleash the Disinfectant: Winter is a time when illnesses have thrived, pesky bacteria latching on to any and everything it can. Get rid of all those accumulated germs by breaking out the disinfectant and giving exposed surfaces a good scrubbing.
Inspect Your Smoke Detector: Hearing an obnoxious beeping in your house? There's a good chance the batteries in your smoke detector are wearing out. That beeping can be annoying, but it's an early warning that your detectors need attention. Keep your smoke detectors working the way they should by swapping out batteries as necessary.
